Every month, URelles delves into these complex documents to extract the essentials and deliver a digestible, jargon-free version.  <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n<div style=\"height:10px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text is-stacked-on-mobile\"><figure class=\"wp-block-media-text__media\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"611\" height=\"789\" src=\"https:\/\/www.urelles.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/Capture-decran-le-2025-07-08-a-13.56.27.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-31335 size-full\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.urelles.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/Capture-decran-le-2025-07-08-a-13.56.27.png 611w, https:\/\/www.urelles.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/Capture-decran-le-2025-07-08-a-13.56.27-232x300.png 232w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 611px) 100vw, 611px\" \/><\/figure><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Progress still too slow<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>In 25 years, the proportion of women in construction has risen from 0.29% to&#8230; <strong>3.27%<\/strong> in 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2192 This target was to be achieved in <strong>2018<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2192 In certain professions (scrap metal worker, refrigeration engineer, pipe fitter, etc.), the proportion of women is less than <strong>1.5%<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2192 In 2018, nearly <strong>56%<\/strong> of female workers had left construction within their first <strong>5<\/strong> years in the industry.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-9d6595d7 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Sexist harassment remains commonplace<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2021, <strong>35%<\/strong> of female workers say they have \u201cexperienced discrimination related to their gender or ethnicity\u201d (compared to 6% of male workers!).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>22%<\/strong> of women say they have been victims of sexual or psychological intimidation or harassment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A large majority of these workers chose to <strong>leave<\/strong> their jobs, hoping to find employment in a healthier environment that was more <strong>welcoming<\/strong> to them.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Work-life balance: mission (almost) impossible<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Construction schedules (often starting at 7 a.m.) are not very compatible with <strong>childcare services<\/strong>. Women adapt their schedules, reduce their hours, and take on the majority of the family burden. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Female workers are still being <strong>fired<\/strong> or laid off as soon as they announce or show signs of <strong>pregnancy<\/strong>. These practices, which are often disguised, prevent them from accessing <strong>preventive leave<\/strong> and compensation. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Fewer hours, less income, less protection<\/h2>\n\n<p><strong>In 2021:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p>\u2192 Women worked an average of <strong>766 hours<\/strong>, compared to 1,039 for men.<\/p>\n\n<p>\u2192 78% of women are <strong>apprentices<\/strong>, compared to 35% of men.<\/p>\n\n<p>\u2192 Their average annual salary: $27,884, or <strong>61%<\/strong> of that of men.<\/p>\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text is-stacked-on-mobile\"><figure class=\"wp-block-media-text__media\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" src=\"https:\/\/www.urelles.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/1728336697082-1024x683.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-31315 size-full\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.urelles.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/1728336697082-1024x683.jpeg 1024w, https:\/\/www.urelles.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/1728336697082-300x200.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/www.urelles.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/1728336697082-768x512.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/www.urelles.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/1728336697082-1536x1025.jpeg 1536w, https:\/\/www.urelles.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/1728336697082.jpeg 2048w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>We can help you do better!<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>It&#8217;s not that women aren&#8217;t suited to construction.
