Game rules

Objectives

  • Realizing that we’re all different and therefore all the same
  • Work on your empathy muscle by putting yourself in other people’s shoes
  • Creative ideas for inclusion

Suggested number of players

  • From 3 to 8 people for individual scoring
  • 9 people or more for team scoring

Approximate duration

A complete round is completed once you’ve turned a “Character”, “Situation” and then “Inclusion” card. Once these three cards have interacted, the round is complete and you move on to the next.

We suggest around 5 min of discussion per card. On average, a round lasts 15-20 minutes. You can do as many rounds as you like.

Difficulty levels

Characters are sorted by difficulty level from 1 to 4. Choose a difficulty level or mix and match!

Not sure? Start with level 1 characters.

Animation

Decide who will host the game. This person will be responsible for turning over the cards, reading them, facilitating discussions and votes, and using the special cards at a moment’s notice.

Game play

  1. Decide which character level you want to use.
  2. Place the “Character”, “Situation” and “Inclusion” cards on the table in three separate packs.
  3. Turn over a “Character” card.
  4. Based on his identity, identify the pitfalls the character might encounter.
  5. Turn over a “Situation” card.
  6. Discuss the obstacles the character might encounter.
  7. Turn over an “Inclusion” card.
  8. Find concrete solutions for improvement.
  9. As a group, vote by a show of hands for the idea that seems most inclusive.
  10. Award one point to the person who came up with the idea (or to the group if the game is cooperative).

At the end of the discussion, draw a new “Character” card and start again.

The game stops when the available time has elapsed or when the level’s cards have been used up. You can count the total points per person or per team, depending on the number of players.
