A new bilingual support group for women in technology has emerged in recent weeks: NousSommesCyber focuses on women working in cybersecurity. According to The Global Information Security Workforce Study Women in Cybersecurity, in 2017, women represented 11% of the workforce, well below the average for women in technology, which usually hovers around 20%. The two co-founders, Véronique Ménard and Marie-Claude Allard, are organizing their first event this Tuesday, November 6. Meet the latter.
What is NousSommesCyber?
It’s a joint project between SERENE-RISC, a cybersecurity network, and the Canadian Cybersecurity Centre. We need women to ensure the success of our digital ecosystem. The jobs offered in cybersecurity are exciting but, unfortunately, there’s a shortage of manpower, especially women, of course. It’s important for women to know that they have a place in this environment, and to feel at ease. That’s why the events are reserved for women only, so that they can feel at ease discussing the topics that appeal to them.
